Heck yeah interns, after following our handy guide for Setting up the Ideal Artist's Studio
you've finally got that sweet studio, right in the best part of the city. When setting up an artist's studio many emerging artists often wonder to themselves "what do I need, what could I use in order to maximize my creative gainz?" It is important to have a repertoire of tools in order to wring out every last drop of your creative e-juices for the proverbial Juul that is your art practice. If you don't know what kind of tools you'll need in order to have a well stocked studio The Art Pros has done you the service of compiling, and keeping updated, a comprehensive guide to what we as Art Professionals consider MUST-HAVES.
1. An Electric Drill/Driver Set: 50-150$
No matter what your craft is, you'll probably be drilling holes. A hell of a lot of holes. Holes holes holes holes. And what goes in holes? Hardware. You gotta drive that hardware in some-how. We suggest this Dewalt Drill and Impact Driver.
This Dewalt Cordless drill set is: cordless, comes with both a drill and an impact driver as well as rechargeable batteries. Into high fashion? Check out the minions inspired carrying bag; now you can look handy and stylish. With an impact driver you will no longer need to worry about getting the torque to drive a 6" screw through a 4x4 chunk of wood. No more dead lifts and wrist curls to get the massive forearms and abs needed to hand screw around all day. Youtuber seejanedrill has a great explanation of the difference between a drill and an impact driver which we've embedded below.
2. ONE OF THE BEST CRAFT JIGSAWS ON THE THE INTERNET Cut my life into pieces? More like cut my Wood into pieces. Not just wood, but metal, plastic, cardboard and pretty much any type of flat stock you can find that is gunna need some cutting. Our suggestion for cutting flat stock? The eponymous JIGSAW, and not this guy from the SAW movie series.
But instead this JIGSAW:
a Dewalt model Jig Saw, with a Top Handle, 5.5-Amp. At around 90$ new it is incredibly powerful and convenient. The top handle means that your cigarette or marijuana cigarette won't get in the way of your blade while you are improperly handling your tools. But... your studio your rules right? We're not endorsing the use of any substances but we are certainly endorsing the use of this jigsaw to cut through flat materials to get both straight and curved cuts with maximum efficiency. Although you may have up to 60 pack abs from hitting the gym so often Karate Chops just are not the best method for getting consistent and creative cut shapes. Check out the youtube channel howcast and this short video on Jigsaws to get a primer on proper Jigsaw usage.
3. NOVELTY COFFEE MUGS
It is Incredibly important that; as an artist; you constantly invite other people to your studio in order to flex your intellect and creative excretions, how will anyone know how creative you are if you don't host guests and berate them with your accomplishments, ideas, and opinions over a beverage. Whether serving wild kombucha, locally brewed coffee, just regular ass tea, or Franzia boxed wine, the coffee mug is the ideal container for any beverage. When you use esoteric novelty mugs you can add a bit of flavor to your studio atmosphere. Below is the official art pros curated list of the best coffee mugs for artists on amazon.
This Cool Art history mug is the perfect way to demonstrate to guests that you have extensive knowledge of the artists who came before you, it also serves as an inspiration to keep you going...You've made works better than the ones featured on this mug, Right?
The Wave is an Iconic Japanese work. With one of these mugs people will know that you are a water fan; an Hydro Homie, and a Japanese Woodblock print aficionado.
We've all been there "I accidentally dipped my paint brush in my coffee mug" It is how we know that we're funny and quirky artists. Signal to your friends that you also have shared this experience so they know that when it comes to the studio, you pay so little attention to your own safety and surroundings that you accidentally drink your own paint.
Everybody has daddy issues ESPECIALLY in the art world. Make sure to channel that energy into and guests who drop by with this Big Daddy mug. Or demonstrate your love of Adam Sandler with this Mug bearing the same name as arguably his best work.
What is cooler than an anthropomorphic mug? A fucking Narwhal. Show that you are cute an Kawaii with this chili/anime styled mug. Also unicorns are hella lame, thats little kid shit. Narwhals prove that you have an eclectic taste in animals, when compared to small children at least.
While the Art Pros hate unicorns, we love horses and more specifically horse art. If you love horse art too consider picking up this incredible Horse Art Mug. You would not believe how profitable the horse art industry really is. Hopefully this mug inspires you to consider making some horse art instead of art about your feelings or whatever, so you can make some massive financial GAINZ.
